SUMMER READING PROGRAM: The Santa Fe Public Library begins its summer reading program called “Be Creative at Your Library” the week of June 8 when children can register to read, for incentives and a chance ot win a bicycle. The program continues through Aug. 1 and will conclude with a party, awards and certificates for participants. Free weekly entertainment also will take place at the various library locations.  Joy Ginther and her Pink Elephant Theatre is the first guest artist.  Her schedule is:
  • From 2:30  to 3:30 p.m. on June 9  at the Southside Branch Library, 6599 Jaguar Drive. Call 955-2828
  • From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on June 10 at the Main Libary, 145 Washington Ave. Call 955-6783
  • From 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on June 10 at the La Farge Branch Library, 1730 Llano St. Call 955-4863. 

No registration is required for these events. The programs are free and sponsored by the Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library.  

Summer programs

Poetry Café: New Mexico CultureNet presents a teen poetry writing group, noon-2 p.m. Saturdays, Santa Fe Public Library, Southside Branch, 6599 Jaguar Drive, for details call 474-8500, no charge.
