This week, The New Mexican ran an Associated Press story about the uncertain future of Spaceport America in Southern New Mexico, hyped as an economic jewel for the state by billionaire Virgin magnate Richard Branson. That got La Mitotera wondering which famous people have already decided to shell out the $200,000 for a two-hour trip to the final frontier (and three days of training in, one can assume, not tossing one’s cookies once no longer subjected to gravity). We’ve already mentioned Ashton Kutcher’s booking. Other notable figures who want to experience the voyage include Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt (who will reportedly travel separately in case of an accident, now that they have children), Stephen Hawking, Paris Hilton (she’s still around?), Tom Hanks, X-Men director Bryan Singer and Katy Perry. La Mitotera won’t lie. VirginGalactic.com makes the whole experience sound life-changing and spectacular. But considering the fact she doesn’t even like roller coasters, she’ll save her 200 grand.

Renaissance man Neil Patrick Harris is cooler than you are. The Albuquerque native helped the Obamas light the National Christmas Tree and, afterward, enjoyed a lovely meal with fiancé David Burtka at Bryan Voltaggio’s Range restaurant. So what, you ask? Well, Range isn’t even open yet. Harris and Burtka had the place to themselves for a preview meal before the establishment’s public debut. A side note: Harris also has a puppet series on YouTube’s Nerdist Channel called Neil’s Puppet Dreams. Celebrating with the president, being privately wined and dined at a D.C. hot spot, and palling around with pervy puppets. Yup. Cooler than you.

Snaps for made-in-New Mexico Breaking Bad. The meth drama was nominated for two Screen Actors Guild awards — one for outstanding performance by a male actor for Bryan Cranston (also of likely Oscar contender Argo) and one for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. In the latter category, Walt and Co. will have to battle it out with the gangs of Homeland, Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire and Downton Abbey, which stars our neighbor Shirley MacLaine. Catch the SAG Awards on Jan. 27.

Another SAG nod of note: Santa Fean Alan Arkin was nominated for outstanding performance by a male actor in a supporting role for Argo.
