New Mexico native Demi Moore, recently out of rehab — where she was reportedly treated for anorexia and an addiction to prescription pills — has yet another major issue to contend with. Her daughters, who stuck by her side throughout the Ashton and Demidrama, have chosen, understandably, to maintain a relationship with Ashton — something Demi is having a hard time accepting. As they say, girls, if it’s not one thing, it’s your mother.

Singer Tim McGraw, declared “sexy and sober at 45” on a recent People magazine cover, wore (incredibly well) a stunning black Tom Ford suit (no tie, open neck, yum) to the 2013 Grammy Awards. The part-time Santa Fean has been busy dressing other celebs as well this awards season. At the Golden Globe Awards, Ford’s BFF, Julianne Moore, turned heads in a black-and-white minimalist gown, putting all those bedazzled, draped-to-within-an-inch-of-their-lives jewel-tone dresses to shame.

On Feb. 10, the Los Angeles Times cooked up positive publicity for Santa Fe in a piece entitled, “Chocolate nirvana in Santa Fe, N.M.” The piece by Kayleigh Kulp focuses first on the chocolate exhibit at the Museum of International Folk Art, and then takes readers to Kakawa Chocolate House, ChocolateSmith, C.G. Higgins Confections and Todos Santos Chocolates, with a dinner-at-Fuego-in-La-Posada finale. Kulp expounded, “Intrigued and jacked up on pure cacao goodness, Jay and I were off. At the folk art museum, we saw colorful ceramic, copper and silver chocolate beaters, saucers, pots and jars dating [back hundreds of years]. We nabbed a recipe card for New Mexican hot chocolate by Bill Jamison and Cheryl Alters Jamison, who wrote Smoke & Spice and Tasting New Mexico, among others, and who had just led our class that morning at the Santa Fe School of Cooking. The piece continues, “In one of the small shopping areas along the plaza, we stumbled on a ChocolateSmith stand, and when we expressed interest in the chile pistachio chocolate bark, we were asked, “Green or red?” (the official New Mexico state question). We chose the green chile, nibbling on it as we window-shopped among the plaza’s various western wares.”

Adrian Grenier, Santa Fe native and star of the hit HBO series Entourage, may be down, but he’s not out. Although the much-beloved series ended in 2011, Entourage, the movie, has been officially greenlit by Warner Brothers. Negotiations are under way with Grenier, Jeremy Piven, Jerry Ferrara, Kevin Dillon and Kevin Connolly.

Another New Mexico native is in the news. Annabeth Gish (remember Mystic Pizza? West Wing? Anybody?) has been cast as Ben’s sibling, Stephanie, on NBC’s Parks and Recreation, starring the brilliant and hilarious Amy Poehler. In the arc, which is currently filming and will air later this season, Leslie (Poehler) travels with Ben (Adam Scott) to Partridge, Minn., to meet his family and learns that Ben was elected mayor at 18 — only to be impeached. And the hits just keep on coming.

Animated idiots Beavis and Butt-head are about to have competition from humans. Mike Judge, former Albuquerque resident and creator of the wildly popular sitcom, has signed on real life comedic up-and-comers T.J. Miller and Thomas Middleditch to star in his new HBO pilot Silicon Valley, set in the high-tech California valley of the same name. Although no details are available as of yet, I think we can be pretty sure that Miller and Middleditch’s characters will share at least some of the off-beat traits exhibited by Judge’s former creations. Rad.
