From The Santa Fe New Mexican:
Dec. 27, 1912: Their eyes almost bulging with surprise, curiosity and amazement, convicts who have been in the state penitentiary here for over 18 years, without even a peep at the wonders of the 20th century, had a wonderful awakening Christmas afternoon when moving pictures were shown for the first time at the prison. It was a striking scene and one long to be remembered by Warden McManus and his assistants as well as by the visitors, his guests. Several convicts stood up on their chairs in awe.
Dec. 27, 1987: Albuquerque — An Arizona family held hostage by prison escapee Jimmy Kinslow has sued the state Corrections Department and several current and former officials for $32 million. The lawsuit also names as defendants a former prison guard and several companies that provided and installed security equipment at the Penitentiary of New Mexico near Santa Fe.
