Dec. 24, 1911: The Supreme Court today decided the case of George S. Klock, appellee, vs. E.A. Mann, appellant, from Bernalillo County. The decision is a victory for Klock, whom Gov. William J. Mills sought to remove as district attorney and in whose place he appointed Judge Mann.
Dec. 24, 1961: Albuquerque — The executive secretary of the New Mexico School Boards Association has lashed out at a statement by Albert Nohl which said a special session of the Legislature on school finances should not be held until June 1962. John Aragon, the school board's group executive secretary, said in a written statement Saturday that if the state's schools are to be run on a sound fiscal basis, the planning cannot be put off until the middle of next summer.
Dec. 24, 1986: Police cadets got a little on-the-job training Saturday when a routine roadblock exercise led to a marijuana and cocaine bust on Interstate 25. About 25 cadets from the Law Enforcement Training Academy were conducting routine driver's license and vehicle registration checks near the Lamy junction when the driver of a 1977 Chrysler could not produce proof of registration. Police officer Mike Bowen got suspicious and decided to search the car where police found 14 pounds of marijuana in a suitcase and 2 pounds of cocaine in a sock.
