March 9, 1910: Attorney Charles C. Catron has been appointed assistant district attorney and has taken charge of the work before the territorial grand jury.
Mr. and Mrs. Miguel Chavez of Park View, Rio Arriba County, today moved into their new home on Capitol Street. They will in effect be residents of Santa Fe in the future. Mr. Chavez is investing thousands upon thousands of dollars in Santa Fe real estate thus proving his faith in the future of the city. Today he is letting the contract for four more new cottages, one on Don Gaspar Avenue, one on Galisteo Street and two on San Francisco Street. August Reinhardt will probably be given the contracts.
March 9, 1960: "I feel like a Greek scholar might have felt if he could have returned to the Athens of old," said a foreign visitor from Athens upon visiting the Santo Domingo Pueblo. This was his first contact with the American Indian. He said he thought of Indian life as the seat of American culture, much the same as most consider Athens to be the seat of all culture as we know it today. "It is very interesting to see how careful, how respectful, the white man is toward the Indian," explained the Greek visitor. "I am afraid I had got much of my ideas about Indians from the movies, like most Europeans."
March 9, 1985: A bill that would make it easier to put mobile homes in residential neighborhoods passed both houses of the Legislature this week and was on its way to Gov. Toney Anaya Friday. The executive director of the New Mexico Manufactured Housing Foundation said the bill would prohibit cities and counties from discriminating against landowners who want to put mobile homes on their land. Local governments could set standards for the mobile homes.
