Series continues

The Rev. John Onstott will preach at the 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday Holy Eucharist services at the Church of the Holy Faith Episcopal.

Nurseries are provided from 8:15 through the
11 a.m. service. Fellowship, refreshments and study begin at 10 a.m. in Palen Hall. Coffee and cookies are served after the 11 a.m. service in Palen Hall.

At the 10 a.m. Sunday forum, the Rev. Kenneth Semon will continue his series on the "Liturgy of Lent and Holy Week."

Children's Sunday School classes meet on the second floor of Conkey House.

  • At 6 p.m. on Tuesdays in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, the church offers a service of healing with Holy Eucharist for body, mind and spirit.

Art presentation

From 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, HaMakom, The Place for Passionate and Progressive Judaism, is conducting a Continuing Education class, "Resistance/Hakol Beseder: Two Art Installations Exploring Jewish Identity.

The class will be taught by the artist, J. Barry Zeiger. He will present slides and discuss the installations, which grew out of research he conducted in Israel and the United States.

The class will be held at St. Bede's Episcopal Church, 1601 St. Francis Drive South.

Indigenous healing

Congregation Beit Tikva, sharing Jewish values in the Reform tradition, holds Shabbat services at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays.

At 2 p.m. on Feb. 22, The Torah— A Woman's Commentary edited by Tamara Cohen Eskanazi, is the basis for a new class at Beit Tikva.

This Friday's regular Shabbat service will be led by Rabbi Nicolas Behrmann. Dr. Karen Milstein will speak on "Indigenous Jewish Healing."

Cantor Michael Linder will lead the congregation in chants and song.

Meddling

"God's Meddling in My Business" is the topic at the 11 a.m. service at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The church is Santa Fe's Bilingual Church que es reformada y siempre reformandose. Kabbalah groups

The Santa Fe Kabbalah Study Groups welcome anyone interested in the study of Kabbalah.

  • The Beginning Group will meet on Thursday to study the sefirah of Tiferet and its relationship to the various triads and seferot on the lower face of the Tree of Life.
  • The Advanced Group will meet on Feb. 28 to rview the manifestation of existence as described in Genesis, Ezekiel's vision and Isaiah from a Kabbalistic perspective.

Don't tell

Archbishop Richard Gundrey will preside at the Sunday service at the Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch— Malabar Rite's celebration of Holy Eucharist. He will discuss "Don't Tell Anyone What You Saw." Rahmaneh Meyers and Friends will sing in Aramaic — Jesus' native tongue.

The church meets Sundays at the Loretto Chapel, 207 Old Santa Fe Trail. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. Meditation begins at 8:45 a.m. Mass is celebrated from 9 to 10 a.m. All are welcome to take Communion.

The church draws a variety of independent thinkers who love the beauty of ancient ritual along with progressive spiritual dialogue. The church is not affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church.

  • From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, the church hosts a healing service. Discussion and refreshments begin at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Mother Carol Calvert will host this Wednesday's service. The guest speaker will be Dr. Harold Steinburg, who will discuss energy medicine and nutrition and his work in this field. The service ends around 8:30 p.m. The service is held at the rectory and office at 111 W. Cordova Road. Call 988-4244.

Children of Sarah and Hagar

At the 9:45 a.m. Sunday forum at United Church of Santa Fe, a new series on the "Extended family of faith — the children of Abraham, Sarah and Hagar," will explore the traditions of Christianity, Judaism and Islam.

The introduction session on Sunday will offer an overview of the three traditions.

The remaining three weeks, the forum will feature representatives from all three faith traditions to share their experiences and insights.

A second forum, "Saving Jesus," is a DVD series with a progressive approach to
Christianity.

Born again

At the 8 a.m. morning prayer service and the 10:30 a.m. Divine service, members of Immanuel Lutheran Church celebrate the second Sunday in Lent with the Gospel account of Jesus and his telling Nicodemas to be "born again."

In contrast to the popular bumper sticker "Born Right the First Time," Pastor Douglas Escue will discuss the concept of rebirth through Jesus Christ.

At 9 a.m., Sunday school for children beings.

Listening

From 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Thubten Norbu Ling Buddhist Center will present a class titled "The Power of Listening."

In this teaching from Don Handrick, the participants will explore the practice of skillful listening and the benefits that arise from developing an ability to listen from the heart, opening up to others with wisdom and compassion.

The class is part of the Thursday services "The Heart of Practice," which explores the integration of Buddhist practices into everyday life. The suggested donation per class is $15.

Latin service

At 2 p.m. on Sundays, the Rev. Arthur Jakobiak celebrates Mass in Latin at the San Miguel Mission, 401 Old Santa Fe Trail. The Mass is supported by the Latin Mass Community of Santa Fe and is approved by Archbishop Michael
J. Sheehan and the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. Sunday Mass is celebrated in the traditional liturgy at 5 p.m. at the Mission.

Upaya offerings

Upaya Zen Center at 1404 Cerro Gordo Road, offers the following programs for the community:

  • Daily meditation practice is held from 7 to 8 a.m. and from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The practice is free and open to the public.

Programs for adults

The Adult Enrichment program at Santa María de la Paz Catholic Community continues to offer topics of special interest that are presented in hour-long sessions at different times — at 4 p.m. on Saturdays; at 8:30 a.m. and at
10:45 a.m. on Sundays.

The presentations are free and open to the public. Upcoming presentations include:

  • Feb. 23 and 24: "Preserving Our History for Future Generations."
  • March 8 and 9: "Unmasking Depression and other Mental Illnesses."

Awareness

At the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Unity Santa Fe, The Rev. Brendalyn Batchelor will discuss "Rediscovering Present Moment Awareness."

She will explore the importance of choosing to connect with Inner Presence. This is the first of two messages focused on Michael Brown's The Presence Process.

At 7 p.m. on Feb. 27, Brown will share his insights and knowledge as an autho and healer at Unity.

Door to freedom

At the Sunday service of Eckankar — the Religion of the Light and Sound of God, Leanne DeVane will discuss "Using HU to Open the Door to Spiritual Freedom." The 10:30 a.m. service provides readings, singing HU (a love song to God), a talk, open discussion, and fellowship.

The service is open for all who want to experience giving and receiving divine love. Services are held at the Woman's Club, 1616 Old Pecos Trail.

A free, one-year discussion of The Spiritual Laws of Life continues on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. The class is open to the public. Classes meet at 2082 Avenida de las Alturas. 'Nick at Night'

At the 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday services at United Church of Santa Fe, the Rev. Talitha Arnold will discuss Nicodemus and his night visit to Jesus in a sermon titled "Nick at Night."

Arnold says Nicodemus was a Pharisee, a group that has received a number of bad reviews from Christians.

But he was a man who wanted to do the right thing, and asked earnest questions about his life and his relationship with the Almighty.

Jesus respected the questions and the person asking them.

Pianist Vincent Perez, a student of Steinway artist andmusic director Jacquelyn Helin, offers special music at both services.

At 11 a.m., the Sanctuary Choir, directed by Catherine Robinson, also sings.

Children's and Youth Ministry are offered during the 11 a.m. service.

Child care also is offered throughout the morning.

The church is an open, inclusive, and progressive Christian community that welcomes families of all backgrounds.

Karma

In a new series of classes on Karma, Kadampa Buddhist nun and resident teacher Gen Kelsang Gomlam at Tushita Buddhist Center, will describe how Buddha's teachings aid in understanding the role of karma life and how to employ methods to affect future experiences.

Classes will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Mondays through Feb. 25 at the center, 1583 Pacheco St. The cost is $10 per class.
