Isotopes' playoff hopes dwindle

Round Rock defeated Albuquerque 3-0 Friday night, placing the Isotopes on the precipice of elimination.

The Albuquerque loss, coupled with Oklahoma City's 3-1 win over Omaha, left the Isotopes three games down with three games to play in the Southern Division of the American Conference of the Pacific Coast League.

Shane Loux tossed a complete game for Round Rock, last in the Southern Division. Loux (6-12) yielded five hits in handing the Isotopes just their fourth shutout and helping the Express snip their nine-game losing string.

John Ely (5-4) suffered the loss, allowing two runs in the third and one in the seventh.

Albuquerque (70-70) and Round Rock (56-85) meet at 6:05 tonight.
