Ken Duran will not roam the baseball dugouts in a St. Michael's High School uniform next year.

Duran was fired as the Horsemen head coach after a 20-9 record in 2009 and a 67-20 mark in three years at the school. That included a 26-4 season in 2008, when St. Michael's was seeded No. 1 but lost to Portales in the Class AAA semifinals.

St. Michael's athletic director Tom Manning said the school simply decided not to renew his contract.

"We'd like to thank coach Duran for his hard work and dedication in coaching the Horsemen baseball team," Manning said. "We wish him the best in his future coaching endeavors."

The Horsemen won the last two District 2AAA titles, going a combined 28-2 against district foes in that span.
