After a month of lopsided wins, the Mora girls basketball team finally got a challenge it couldn't keep up with.
Shannen Lopez, Jamie Allen and Abby Bradley combined for 45 points to lead Las Vegas Robertson to a 62-58 nondistrict win over the Rangerettes on Friday night in Michael Marr Gymnasium.
The loss was the first of the season for Mora (15-1).
"We really hadn't been challenged for the last eight or 10 games, so this was a good one for us to play," said Mark Cassidy, Rangerettes head coach. "It's a loss, but at least it game against a very good team."
Robertson (12-5) trailed 30-27 at halftime but outscored Mora 19-12 in the fourth quarter. Lopez had a game-high 20 points, while Allen scored 15 and Bradley 10.
Angel Valencia had 17 points, Chantel Rivera 16 and Andrea Romero 13 for the Rangerettes, who led 58-57 with just under two minutes remaining in regulation.
Lopez hit what proved to be the game-winning bucket to put the Lady Cardinals on top 59-58.
"It was nip and tuck the whole way, but it was a physical game," Cassidy said.
The teams combined for 55 free-throw attempts. Five Mora players finished the game with four fouls.
