A new name, new friends, new school and an entirely new life. Kip McFarland knows one thing: On his 7th birthday, he set Bobby Clarke on fire. McFarland's story, told in the book Right Behind You, is one of his second chance at life.
After four years in a mental hospital, Kip is released after going through almost every type of therapy — play therapy, puppet therapy and even art therapy. While in the mental hospital, his therapist, "The Frown," trains Kip to become a regular teen and gives him the OK to be released and reinvent a new life.
In Kip's new life, he becomes a star swimmer, loyal friend and even good-looking guy — but can he keep his past a secret? Will his nightmares get to him? And can he ever face his enemy ... himself? His therapist and his family hope he can forgive and continue his life while leaving what happened in the past.
Released in September 2007, Right Behind You is Gail Giles' fifth teen novel. Giles' Web site is www.gailgiles.com, and she blogs at notjazz.livejournal.com.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes reading suspense books and also anyone in need of a good, short read. I also recommend this book to any readers that are also familiar with the authors Patrick Jones or Susan Beth Pfeffer, because they all have similar writing styles.
