Uncharted 2: Among Thieves ranks in my top 10 games that I love. Let me explain why: The graphics in this game are sharp and clear. The game engine, Naughty Dog 2, runs very well on PlayStation 3 and contains little to no lag. The plot contains twists that are not foreseeable and captured my interest for a longer time than any other video game.
However, there were a few bad sides to this game as well. Much like Uncharted 1: Drake's Fortune, Uncharted 2 forces the player to watch horribly long cut scenes. If the player dies or fails the mission, he/she must start over and re-watch the cut scene. However, after playing this game twice, I discovered that if the player finishes the game once, he/she can have the option of skipping over the cut scenes. Thus the biggest problem in this game is resolved.
The game play in this game reminds me a lot of God of War. For those who have played it, you will know that God of War contains an enormous amount of wall climbing and third person fighting. Uncharted 2 also has wall climbing and third person fighting but maintains a reasonable amount and balances both tactical thinking and fighting/shooting very well. The player can play the game using tactics and stealth or they can blast their way toward the objective. Personally, I prefer the latter. All in all, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is one of the best games I have ever played. I recommend it to everybody that likes tactical and action video games.
